A third GTA 6 trailer has arrived at long, long last just over a month ahead of the most anticipated game of the decade’s release date. Fans have been begging for a new trailer for months, having been made to wait by developer Rockstar Games.
Rockstar partnered with Netflix to launch Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look in August, but now a fresh official launch trailer has arrived. It follows the release of trailer two, which arrived well over a year ago. Trailer two was released in May 2025, while the first trailer came out in December 2023 – nearly three years before GTA 6’s eventual release date.
The new 90-second launch trailer includes a teaser of protagonist Jason’s history before the game, including ‘trouble’ during his time in the army. It hints at an explanation for how Jason comes upon hard times and possible ends up in a life of crime.
Players have been given a fresh look at a number of the game’s characters, including Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike and Raul Bautista. The trailer is set to a new song, ‘Flower in a Hurricane” by original GTA 6 score composers Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
Ther’s also a number of steamy shower scenes between Jason and his girlfriend Lucia, who is also a playable protagonist. The game follows Jason and Lucia as they attempt to build a life together off the back of their criminal activity.
Rather than the gameplay-driven sneak peek offered in the Netflix extended look, the GTA 6 Launch Trailer offers a more cinematic reveal of what to expect from the game when it finally arrives next month.
Captured on PS5 – the console that has featured heavily for GTA 6 marketing material – the trailer begins with a bearded Jason working on a boat at Brian’s Marina – a location in the Leonida Keys area of the game’s map that functions somewhat as a safehouse.
He then receives a call from Lucia, who is believed to be in prison at the start of the game. Viewers are then given a glimpse into what appears to be Jason’s time in the army, although they could equally be part of a police operation set in the present day.
The official trailer description from Rockstar reads: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”
