Despite somewhat middling reviews, Marvel’s Wolverine is an entertaining game with bloody combat and bombastic set-pieces. Unfortunately, however, the game does have its flaws, with fans and reviewers criticising the lack of freedom and the way the game holds your hand.
One feature, in particular, that has drawn criticism is the so called ‘fart gas trail’. Representing Logan’s heightened sense of smell as a mutant, the blue trail points players in the right direction. Fans argue that the scent trail makes the game too easy, and would like the option to turn it off.
According to Insomniac Community and Marketing director James Stevenson (via Push Square), the developer is hard at work on improvements to the game.
As you can see from the tweet below, this likely includes a fix for the infamous scent trail feature that has been so controversial among fans.
“We have been 100% listening over the last few days and the team has been cooking hard today in response to some of the feedback – in case you were wondering what that smell out of our kitchen was.”
The tweet ends with a winking emoji, heavily suggesting Stevenson is referring to the scent trail.
Marvel’s Wolverine is out now, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Fans can purchase a Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition.
The Deluxe Edition comes with a selection of bonus items, including five exclusive suits, five exclusive claws, four technique points, an early unlock of the classic brown Wolverine suit, early access to the Reflective Claws and four PlayStation Avatars.
If you’ve already purchased the standard edition, then you can upgrade to the Deluxe version for an extra £10.
To celebrate the launch of the game, Sony has also released a selection of Wolverine-themed hardware and accessories.
This includes a Wolverine DualSense controller featuring claw marks across the front of the pad. It comes in Battle Yellow and Adamantium colour schemes.
