Steam Controller UK release date and price announced – Here’s when you can order | Gaming | Entertainment

Valve has officially announced the Steam Controller price and release date. Speculation about the Steam Controller has increased in recent weeks, following the discovery of a leaked video review and backend store update. Valve has since confirmed launch plans for the hotly anticipated controller, which has been given a May 4 release date. According to the listing on the Steam Controller store page, the gamepad will be available to purchase at 6pm BST UK time on May 4. That’s 10am PT / 1pm ET if you live in the US. Confirming earlier rumours, the Steam Controller will cost $99 in the US and £85 in the UK.

Sadly, however, there’s still no word on the launch of the Steam Machine or Steam Frame VR headset.

The Steam Controller features two track pads below two thumbsticks, which is not too dissimilar to the layout of the Steam Deck.

Four rear paddles can also be found at the back of the controller, which can be remapped similar to many of the pro controllers for PS5 and Xbox.

According to Valve, it features a full set of inputs to play your whole Steam library, as well as four haptic motors for high definition rumble and 35-hours of battery.

The controller comes with a Puck that provides a low-latency wireless connection and easy magnetic charging.

The controller also utilises Valve’s new Grip Sense functionality for gyroscopic controls with capacitive touch.

“Hold and release to enable and disable gyro aiming,” Valve explains. “You can also map it like any other button.”

The early reviews are certainly positive, with IGN awarding the device an impressive 9/10.

The controller is said to be perfect for casual PC gamers, while also offering high-end features and lots of customisation.
