Grand Theft Auto VI fans have been left saying the same thing after an exclusive teaser for the new game aired exclusively on Netflix. The 26-minute extended look dropped on Thursday evening (August 27), marking an unprecedented partnership between Rockstar Games and the streaming platform. Subscribers were given a rare early glimpse at the gameplay months ahead of its November launch. The forthcoming game arrives 13 years after the debut of Grand Theft Auto V, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated releases in the blockbuster series’ history.
The footage offered fans their most detailed look yet at protagonists Jason and Lucia navigate a sprawling criminal underworld across the fictional state of Leonida.The game’s synopsis sets the scene, explaining that after one “easy score” goes awry, Jason and Lucia “find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida”. It adds that the pair must now lean on each other more than ever before if they want to survive.
Now that fans have finally had a look at what’s to come, they have rushed to social media to share how much they loved it.
One said on X, formerly Twitter: “Those graphics are INSANE. @RockstarGames have outdone themselves again with the gameplay for #GTAVI. This game is going to make history like every GTA has.”
Someone else agreed: “#GTAVI is without a doubt the most impressive piece of gaming ever created. @RockstarGames DO NOT MISS. My goodness. The ambition of this game, the scope, and the attention to detail is off the SCALE.”
A third fan was just as blown away, posting: “This whole trailer had my jaw on the floor. This game is going to be the greatest game of all time. Thank you, @RockstarGames. Bring on November 19th, 2026 GTA 6. 2026. #GTAVI #GTA6.”
While a final fan chimed in with: “That was the greatest thing I have ever witnessed. #GTAVI.”
But the Netflix special didn’t exactly go to plan. Viewers’ excitement quickly turned to frustration when the streaming platform crashed the second fans tried to tune in.
As soon as they clicked on the episode, subscribers were greeted by an error message reading “something went wrong”. But the issue was resolved within minutes.
The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.
